Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors have placed forward Troy Murphy on the injured list due to a hairline fracture, left thumb, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin announced today. In a related move, the team also activated forward Zarko Cabarkapa from the injured list prior to this evening’s home game against the Sacramento Kings.
Murphy did not dress for the Warriors last game in Los Angeles against the Clippers on Saturday, January 29 after suffering the injury while going for a rebound in the team’s home game versus Seattle the previous night. In 42 games this season, Murphy has averaged 16.2 points, 11.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 35.2 minutes per contest. He ranks third in the NBA in three-point percentage (.463), fourth in rebounding (11.2 rpg) and sixth in double-doubles (25).
Cabarkapa has missed the Warriors last five games after being placed on the injured list on January 21 with left knee tendinitis. Since being acquired from Phoenix on January 3, he has appeared in five games with the Warriors, averaging 2.6 points and 2.4 rebounds in 8.0 minutes per contest.
